PEGGY W.

I was first diagnosed in 2017 at the age of 36. I had two small children, ages five and two. None of the providers that had looked at the ‘cyst’ growing just under my skin had thought it was cancerous in any way. The lab results of the tumor after it was removed proved different. There was a second surgery to clear the margins and take lymph nodes, then came the 4 rounds of chemotherapy and 7 weeks of radiation. Yet, within two years of completing treatment, mets were confirmed to be present in both my lungs.I’m lucky that at least, for now, an immunotherapy drug is keeping growth at bay. My children are 9 and 6. I continue to hope and pray that I get to be here to see them grow up.
